The Delaware Teacher Center opened in 1981 as an innovative approach to professional development and services for teachers. It was originally funded by the U.S. Department of Education, later by both federal and state monies, and is now entirely state funded thanks to our Legislators, Governors, and Delaware Department of Education.
The Teacher Center provides two main services to Delaware educators…
- a statewide program of workshops, conferences, and community services
- nine centers statewide where teachers can create free instructional materials using laminators, letter machines, poster makers, book binders, tape/DVD copiers, and computers
The Delaware Teacher Center is governed by a Policy Board consisting of teachers and administrators who represent school districts, higher education, state agencies, and other educational organizations.
The Teacher Center strives to improve services to Delaware educators by continually evaluating workshops and centers. It exists to help teachers, hence the motto “Teachers Helping Teachers.”
